Union Environment Ministry constitutes Four-Member team for Conservation of Loktak Lake

  • The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has constituted a four-member team for conservation and management of Loktak Lake in Manipur.
  • The team will visit Loktak Lake and hold discussions with the State government, its concerned agencies and other stakeholders including people living in the vicinity of the lake

Odisha govt signs MoU to set up four more STPI centres

  • Odisha Government has signed an MoU with the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) for setting up of four more centres in the State.
  • The new centres would come up at Angul, Jajpur, Koraput and Sambalpur.
  • With this, the number of STPI centres will rise to eight in the State which is highest in the country.

HCC becomes first firm to get debt recast under RBI’s S4A Scheme

  • Construction major Hindustan Construction Company(HCC) became India’s first firm to get debt recast under RBI’s new Scheme for Sustainable Structuring of Stressed Assets (S4A).
  • The RBI-mandated Overseeing Committee (OC) under the S4A has approved HCC’s Rs. 5,000-crore debt recast passed by an ICICI Bank-led joint lender forum in September 2016.
  • Under this debt recast of HCC 52{be19e8fcc7081f751eba9e03bd22e904e5cf3e86733381e655a03b1ab7839769} of the debt (nearly Rs. 2,600 crore) was found to be sustainable and can be serviced as per original terms and conditions, including about interest rate and tenure
  • Scheme for Sustainable Structuring of Stressed Assets (S4A)– The RBI had launched S4A scheme to help resolve the corporate debt problem and strengthen the lenders’ ability to deal with stressed assets.

DRDO inks MoU with IIT Delhi to establish JATC

  • The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) has signed a MoU with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi to establish a Joint Advanced Technology Centre (JATC).
  • The JATC will be located in the campus of IIT Delhiat the upcoming Science and Technology Park (Mini-Science Park ‘MSP’).
  • The objective of JATC is to undertake and facilitate multi-disciplinary directed basic and applied research in the jointly identified research verticals.
  • The JATC will enable Directed, Basic & Applied Researchand will engage with premier research institutes through multi-institutional collaboration. DRDO will support JATC in equipping it with advanced and unique research facilities to enable the faculty and scholars to conduct advanced research.
  • The focused research efforts at the JATC will help in realization of indigenous technologiesthe critical areas which will be used for speedy self-reliance.

Manny Pacquiao reclaims WBO welterweight title for third time

  • In Boxing, Manny Pacquiao reclaims the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) welterweight title for the third time.
  • The 37-year-old Filipino pugilist, who had announced his retirement seven months ago, was declared the winner with unanimous decision after he defeated American Jessie Vargas in his comeback fight in Las Vegas.
